SUNBURNT COUNTRY
Dorothea MacKellar wrote about the Australia that was her love. With this series of 10 paintings, mostly from South Australia, I have tried to depict the Australia I see. Not that very different from Dorotheas. As our land is greatly varied, so are my renditions. I was born in Booleroo Centre and the soft roundness of that landscape still brings a gentle, comforting feeling to my being. Belying greatly the strength required to live within their harsh boundaries. There is real beauty in this land that man may not be able to tame, but is loved with a passion by those who see the beauty.
